It might sound surprising to many that a city of millions of inhabitants and with some of the tallest buildings in the world is a good place to practice birdwatching. But actually New York City is chosen by thousands of birdwatchers to admire the awesome species that live in this mega metropolis.

In Manhattan, bird lovers could find in Central Park an oasis where to observe beautiful species such as the Baltimore Oriole, the Northern cardinal, American Redstarts and House Sparrows. The park is full of ideal spots among which the Lake, Bethesda Terrace, the Great Hill and Shakespeare Garden are some of the most well known. Download the Central Park Birds Guide.

In the suburban area, the Hudson River Valley is where Eastern bluebird, pileated woodpeckers and yellow warblers can be observed among plenty of other species. Furthermore, the Westchester County has a lot of good watching spots at a distance of less than one hour from the city.
