The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum is a military and maritime museum that exhibits war and transportation items that are a vital part of US history. It is a complex that holds 30 restored aircrafts, a former USS Growler submarine, the British Airways Concorde and a Lockheed A-12 supersonic reconnaissance plane.
The star of the collection is the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid, built and used during World War II (where it suffered a Kamikaze attack) and Vietnam War, and declared National Historic Landmark in 1986.
As an interactive museum, the Intrepid offers the opportunity to know in depth how these artifacts worked and the military importance they had on their era.
Other jewels at the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum are a Replica of Aurora 7 space capsule and artifacts of the heroes who were part of the country’s military history such as photographs, letters, manuscripts, certificates, medals, souvenirs, helmets and uniforms.
