Located in the heart of Manhattan, the Central Park is the most visited park in the United States and one of the most famous in the World. Its picturesque landscape of Maple trees and Horse Carriages and its constant appearance in TV shows and films have made from Central Park, an icon of New Yorkers lifestyle.
On 23rd May 1963, Central Park was declared United States´ National Historical Place.
The Park stretches from Central Park South (59th St.) to 110th St. at the northern end and from 5th Ave. on the East Side to 8th Ave. on the West Side. With an area of 843 acres (6% of Manhattan), it is the biggest Park in New York City. It is formed by huge grasslands, from which the biggest is the Great Lawn at the heart of the park. It also hosts both natural and artificial lakes.
Central Park is an oasis in the middle of the concrete jungle, where New Yorkers go to relax during a busy day, enjoy a walk or practice different sports taking advantage of the facilities and sports programs organized in the park. It is also a popular place among bird watchers, since it is a scale for migratory birds.
Since the park’s open-hours are from 6:00 am until 1:00 am, there is plenty of things to do and no excuses for not to stroll around Central Park.
